The analysis of the cases registered in the Intranet Portal Award during its three years - a significant number of more than 120 initiatives across the country - has revealed the maturing gradual but steady, the use of these digital environments in Brazilian corporate market.
Of the many clues to support this conclusion, two appear so emblematic:
• 64% of participants said that the environment, in addition to relaying information and content, also provides access to other enterprise systems, enabling the organization to use the information and optimize processes;
• 53% of respondents said that senior management considers them "something useful" and offer his patronage, while 30% answered that the chief executives treat intranets and enterprise portals as "critical to the business."
It is a significant development for an environment that, until recently, was nothing more than a repository of information, usually without relevance.
At the same time, the cases are winners really advanced solutions, making it clear which way to put the management of information and knowledge in the service organizations more agile, flexible and intelligent - and therefore more productive and effective.
Cases registered
The Intranet Portal Award, held annually since 2008, is an initiative of the Intranet Portal - IIP, an organization founded with the purpose of fostering, professionalize and recognize initiatives in the segment. The cases participants pass by evaluating an independent jury composed of renowned professionals with strong experience, which assign notes to questions based on three pillars ("Collaboration", "Content" and "Integrating IT") and two dimensions (technical and results). The goal of the Institute, from the award is to provide benchmarks for real success for the market, encouraging him to move forward.
Information provided by the companies upon registration, plus notes and considerations of the jurors, enabled the Institute Intranet Portal together an unprecedented and vast database of information on the national scene, based surveys presented here. The IIP also prepared a full report "Intranet Scenario Brazil 2008-2010," which will be distributed to their members.
SMEs with intranet of great people
In addition to confirming the maturity, to put the magnifying glass on the cases that participated Prize Intranet Portal, some paradigms are broken, especially with regard to the geographical location and the size of the companies. Who thinks intranets and corporate portals environments are so complex and sophisticated that can only exist in large and giant companies is no longer as close to the truth. Although São Paulo still account for 40% of the entries, no less than 14 other states, plus the Federal District, has told representatives with beautiful surprises like Acre, Amapá and Mato Grosso do Sul
In terms of size, the participation of small businesses with up to 300 employees, represents 20% of the total, competing on an equal footing with large corporations. Moreover, taking advantage, actually, because some of these small companies have won the Grand Prix, the highest category of the Award Intranet Portal (of 5 trophies distributed in this category over the past 3 years, 3 were for small and medium enterprises, while 2 were for large organizations - know more about the award winners and cases ).
Versions
Some participants launched the first version of their intranets in 1995, the year in which it has reference to the birth of this technology in the world. But still constitute a minority. Already between 1995 and 2000, several other companies have put their first release in the air. However, interesting information, and showing the growth of the segment, is that a significant number of participants implemented the first version of its intranet only from 2008. Still on versions, over 70% of companies have updated the environment up to three times.
As a final test of the maturity of corporate intranets and portals in Brazilian corporate market is that 73% of those enrolled in the Intranet Portal Award are annual planning of their environments. This percentage is surprising, even if compared to global research and studies on the segment. As you know these environments are organic and require regular monitoring and planning in order to maintain alignment to the business-only path for those who want to add real value.
