This is now its permanent point of contact with the awards, as we gather in one space, both the process this year as the memory of previous years.

Evolution of Award
The Intranet Portal Award was born in 2008 - their slogan initial, reproduced above, was a statement of its major goals, which remain alive today.
Now, in 2011, we reached the fourth edition certain that the Award has played an important role in the maturation of the market and that Brazilian companies can benefit from more advanced intranets and portals, generating references that inspire everyone.

Trophies of the first edition
Below, we detail a bit more what led us to create the prize, the conceptual framework that guides the general structure of it.
Background and Objectives
The market for corporate intranets and portals is in frank expansion and consolidation. Any large company in Brazil has an initiative in this area, as facilitating access to information and knowledge quickly, has become a necessity for those who want to be competitive in a networked economy.
Thus, they are aimed at building a digital environment:
- assist in integrating legacy and facilitate web-based development;
- become easier and friendlier information retrieval;
- create collaborative channels mediated by technology.
And, preferably, that makes it all seamlessly together.
In all these cases, we seek to reduce costs, increase productivity, increase competitiveness and foster innovation. This is the universe of corporate intranets and portals.
Additionally, IDC data show that there was in 2009, more than 25 million users of intranets in Latin America. As for market trends, the projections point to growth of 13% in 2011 and 20% in 2012 - so we're talking about an industry in turmoil, whose growth and importance are inexorable.
The Intranet Portal Award reaffirms, therefore, as a catalyst for action that aims to contribute to the formation of the market, to give visibility to best practices and to point the paths of their evolution.
Vision and Structure
The market for corporate intranets and portals is consolidating around the vision proposed by Gartner, which includes "Portal, Content & Collaboration" on a single approach.
Thus, the Award adopts this view as the base, leaving it to delineate also the main value propositions of a corporate intranet or portal (which, in turn, lead to the definition of categories and criteria). The following chart ilsutra and the universe of the award, which has served as the basis for the first edition in 2008:
What does a corporate portal that no other system or technology can you?
Where it adds value in a unique and critical to business?
The proposition of Gartner's happiness has clearly demonstrated that these environments are no longer merely an IT system (although technology is obviously one of its fundamental vectors).
Speaking of Content and Collaboration conjugated form, it is evident that we are talking about a platform focused on collective intelligence, knowledge management and innovation - key elements for the competitiveness of any contemporary enterprise.
Importantly, despite the various terminology involved (such as Enterprise 2.0, Intranet 2.0, Social Intranet, etc.), the core of a platform for managing information and knowledge remains the same, formed by the triad of integration, content and collaboration. Therefore, the award recognizes the progress of the market and is tuned to the news (such as the use of social networks in the corporate environment), but sees this structure a way to continue evaluating this universe without being tied to fads.
Categories
As in 2009, the 2010 will distribute 11 awards were divided into four categories:
- IT Integration (trophy for first, second and third place)
- Collaboration (trophy for first, second and third place)
- Content (trophy for first, second and third place)
- Grand Prix (a trophy for the best of private initiative and the other for non-private initiative)
As seen, the first three refer directly to the previous chart - it also sees a number of items that will be faced with assessing the independent jury.
The Award Intranet Portal works with only one application, which entitles to compete in all categories (and not with specific entries for each).
It never hurts to point out that the Award evaluates corporate intranets and portals from technical issues, but values even more effective the results obtained and the gains brought to the organizations they serve - so much so that there are also questions of results (which are related the metrics and profits for the business).
